The Calgary Flames have officially placed forward Connor Zary on NHL waivers, and with top waiver wire priority, the Vancouver Canucks hold first pick. Should GM Ryan Johnson pull the trigger and claim Zary?
In this episode, we break down why Calgary made the surprising decision to waive Connor Zary alongside defenceman Brayden Pachal, whether Vancouver should make a claim, and how Zary fits into the Canucks' roster and salary cap situation.
In this episode, we discuss:
✅ Why did the Calgary Flames waive Connor Zary? (Injury history, foot speed, and coaching friction)
✅ The Vancouver Canucks' #1 NHL waiver wire priority and available cap space
✅ Lineup analysis: Does Zary slot into the middle-six on the wing?
✅ Who loses their roster spot? Evaluating Brendan Gallagher, Aatu Räty, and Arshdeep Bains
✅ Is Connor Zary a low-risk, high-reward reclamation project for Vancouver?
