Could the Vancouver Canucks actually land BOTH Caleb Malhotra and Ivar Stenberg in the upcoming NHL Draft? On the latest episode of the Jeff Marek Show, David Pagnotta dropped a bombshell 3-team trade proposal that would reshape the future of the Canucks, Dallas Stars, and Chicago Blackhawks. In this episode, we break down the "insider-crafted" deal that sees the Canucks weaponizing their cap space and assets to move into the top 5 of the draft.
THE PROPOSED BLOCKBUSTER:
✅ TO VANCOUVER: 4th Overall Pick (via Chicago), Ilya Lyubushkin, & Ryan Ellis (LTIR)
✅ TO CHICAGO: Jason Robertson
✅ TO DALLAS: Filip Hronek & Ilya Mikheyev's rights
Why this works for everyone:
Chicago: The Blackhawks are done rebuilding and need to win NOW around Connor Bedard. Landing a superstar like Jason Robertson changes their timeline instantly.
Dallas: Faced with massive cap constraints and the looming contract of Mavrik Bourque, the Stars move Robertson to land a legitimate top-pair RD in Filip Hronek to play alongside Miro Heiskanen.
Vancouver: By taking on the Ryan Ellis contract ($6.25M for one year) and moving Hronek, the Canucks land the 4th overall pick to pair with their pursuit of Ivar Stenberg and possibly land Caleb Malhotra or one of the top defensemen.
