What do the Vancouver Canucks really need this summer? With the 2026 NHL Entry Draft and July 1st Free Agent Frenzy just days apart, GM Ryan Johnson has a very specific shopping list. While the rebuild is the priority, a few key veteran additions could be the difference-maker for this young roster.
In this video, we discuss:
✅ The Veteran Blue Line Search: Why the Canucks are hunting for an experienced 8th defender to mentor stars like Zeev Buium and Tom Willander. (Is a Troy Stecher reunion on the cards?)
✅ Finding "Everyday" Toughness: Why the team is looking beyond the enforcer role for players like AJ Greer, Brandon Duhaime, or Jeffrey Viel.
✅ The Goaltending Carousel: How Thatcher Demko’s health and the depth in Abbotsford dictate their moves in the crease.
✅ Roster Logistics: Why the Canucks might stay quiet to leave room for top prospects like Jonathan Lekkerimäki and Braeden Cootes.
The Canucks’ needs might be minor, but getting the right "character" players is an underrated part of getting this rebuild right.
