With the Vancouver Canucks’ 2026 Training Camp kicking off in Penticton, British Columbia, we are making our final pre-camp projections for the Canucks’ 2026-27 Opening Night roster!
With over $17 million in salary cap space, the Canucks have zero need for opening day paper transactions or LTIR cap gymnastics—meaning the Opening Day roster and the Opening Night lineup should be identical. In this video, we break down our complete forward lines, defensive pairings, goaltending situation, and the tough roster cuts ahead of the regular season opener on September 29.
In this episode, we discuss:
✅ The 1C Battle: Elias Pettersson vs. Marco Rossi—who gets the top-line centre spot on opening night?
✅ Top-6 & Bottom-6 Forwards: Jake DeBrusk and Linus Karlsson flanking Pettersson, reuniting the BRÖ line (Öhgren–Rossi–Boeser), Aatu Räty claiming 3C, and Ty Mueller winning the 4C battle.
✅ Defensive Pairings: Zeev Buium anchoring the top pair with Filip Hronek, Jamie Oleksiak mentoring Tom Willander, and Luke Schenn partnering with Elias Pettersson.
✅ Goaltending Outlook: Thatcher Demko’s health and starting status, Kevin Lankinen's 1B role, and Nikita Tolopilo’s waiver situation.
✅ Final Cuts & Extra Skaters: Where Jonathan Lekkerimäki, Max Sasson, Braeden Cootes, and Ilya Safonov fit into the puzzle.
What are your thoughts on this projected Canucks opening night lineup? Who would you start at 1C between Pettersson and Rossi?
